Description

Our GEN2 Portable Texas Star Target is lighter and more portable than the original version.  We’ve also added a locking feature which prevents the hub from spinning so shooters can build their confidence before learning to engage moving targets.   The 6″ plates are held in place with a unique spring retention system.  When shot, the plates are released from the retention pocket and fall to the ground.  The change in weight distribution causes the hub and plates to rotate.  The precision machined shaft and dual pillow bearings maximize the speed and change of direction with each successful shot. Resetting the target is quick and simple.  Just lift the spring and insert the stem of the plate into the pocket.  One person can reset all five plates in about 20 seconds.

The 6″ round plates are perfect for USPSA and 3-gun practice.  Once you get accustomed to shooting these reduced size plates, you’ll master the full size star in your next match!

The new Porta-Star target makes transportation, set-up and storage a breeze!

Fun and Challenging - easy setup

I purchased this item because it was advertised as “portable”. Unlike some of the previous portable devices I have purchased, this one really is. With a single bolt holding it together, it is quick to setup and tear-down. I can easily carry the components and assemble by myself. It is well built and made of heavy duty materials. I doubt you could hurt it by accident. If you enjoy shooting, you will enjoy this!

Good training tool and fun also

I use this to teach newer shooters to concentrate on moving targets and to master trigger control with a hand gun. Is fun for me also. Nice change from stationary plates

    Challenging and fun

Upon first glance, I wished I had gotten the full sized star, but after shooting this smaller version, I’m glad I bought this one since it’s so easy to transport and set up. Out of the box assembly takes a little time but the instructions are good and straight forward. 22 LR won’t always knock the plates off with one hit, but often enough so it’s still fun. Light 38 and 9mm loads blast em off. Solid built and looks like it will last a long time.

I am the founder and President of The Congress of Rough Riders of CT. and use the Texas Star i n Cowboy Action shooting stages. It keeps things fun and exciting. The target is built like a tank and can take the abuse of of heavy use.

    As great as advertised!

Newest addition to my range. Very well built! Very easy to assemble. Very good instructions. All hardware individually bagged per part step. Unfortunately my order was one bag short. I called the help line in the instructions and received the bag of bolts in 2 days. This was no problem for me because it gave me ample time to paint the AR 500 parts. Highly recommend!

Great value - will last forever and really hone your skills

I use it with 9mm pistol and 22 LR rifle. You can buy separate lighter plates for it to use with 22 LR handguns. It adds another element – unpredictable movement – to the fun of shooting steel gongs. VERY solidly built (assembly required). You can (and should) paint the impact surfaces (paddles at least) whatever color you want – we use yellow at our range for ‘handgun’ and green for ‘rimfire’ and orange for ‘centerfire rifle’ – this unit could be for all three, depending on distance placed, although handguns in 22 LR don’t knock the centerfire plates off more than 75% of the time so sometimes multiple hits required (I’d get a set of rimfire plates if you plan to use 22 LR handguns very often).

I have Challenge Targets Portable Texas Star with centerfire and rimfire plates. I also have their centerfire and rimfire Dueling Trees and they all work perfectly. I use them for training others at my local gun club and at my home range.
