Our Shoot / No Shoot Decision Targets feature life-size photographic images printed on both sides of the target. One side presents an armed threat, while the reverse side presents the same individual engaged in a non-threatening action. This unique double-sided design allows instructors to randomly expose either side of the target, creating realistic cognitive decision-making scenarios that challenge shooters to think before they shoot.
Unlike traditional silhouettes, these targets challenge shooters to combine marksmanship skills with sound judgment under pressure. Shooters must identify critical visual cues, assess the situation, and determine whether the use of force is justified before engaging the target. The result is more realistic training that reinforces threat identification, target discrimination, and decision-making.
By presenting both threatening and non-threatening versions of the same individual, these targets force shooters to evaluate a subject’s actions rather than relying on appearance alone. The decision to shoot or not shoot must be based on what the subject is doing and what is in their hands, creating dynamic training exercises that emphasize observation, restraint, and proper use of force decisions rather than simply shooting every target on the range.
Subtle scoring zones are incorporated into the photographic images to provide objective performance feedback while preserving the realistic appearance of the target. Instructors can evaluate both decision-making and shot placement, reinforcing the importance of making the correct use-of-force decision and delivering accurate hits when engagement is justified.
Many real-world encounters unfold in seconds. A subject reaching toward their waistband may be drawing a firearm, retrieving a cellphone, or simply adjusting clothing. These targets help prepare shooters to process information quickly, identify genuine threats, and make informed decisions when it matters most.
